DOHA: The American Women’s Association held their November morning meeting at the Al Fardan Gardens Clubhouse yesterday. AWA president Michelle Goossen opened the program by introducing AWA member, Beryl Guest, a proponent of “eating healthy to lose weight”, to the 81 AWA members and guests present. Beryl explained how weight could be shed by eating sensibly, without giving up on favorite foods. She assured that a healthy weight loss of one to two pounds a week is easy to achieve, especially when weight-watchers band together.

Elaine Wills and her associates from the International Music Center then demonstrated how exercise, a necessary ingredient in weight loss and fitness, can be fun when it took the form of dance.

Lyndsay Usher, the Center’s ballet and jazz instructor, then held a private session of dance followed by their first recital 20 minutes later which received a hearty applause.

Dean and Heather Stewart performed a rumba; Brian and Tiffany Murphy did a jitterbug swing; and Nadim Mansour and Rhonda Mousfi did a salsa number. For couples only, the dance classes are held evenings at the International Music Center on Ahmed Bin Hanbal Street behind the Arabic school east of the Mall. For details contact on 4671354.
