Charanga
Charanga is a 100 year old style of Cuban music When the
French style of music known as the Contredanse migrated from
Haiti to Cuba in the 1800's it eventually evolved into the
danzon. Played by the Cuban elite eventually
Afro-Cuban rhythms percussion (mainly the Son style) worked
their way in. "There is also an Excellent new Danzon group
in the San Francisco area called 'Orquesta la Modera Tradicion'
led by Cuban born Roberto Borrell. This is the only danzon
group recording in the United States "
